June 27th, Saturday we are proud to have classical guitarist Gabriel Ayala (member of the Pascua Yaqui Nation). Gabriel will be performing in our courtyard in the evening currently schedule at six p.m.. This event is free and open to the public. We have a limited amount of seating so feel free to bring your own portable chairs. Our shops will be open for the evening event for your shopping of gifts and fine art. Ayala has performed all over the world and has appeared at the Kennedy Center for the Arts, National Museum for the American Indian, and ASU Keer Cultural Center. He has been recognized by the State of Arizona and former Governor Janet Napolitano for his musical achievements and has been named a Tucson Citizen of the Month as well as Artist of the Month for the IICOC(Indigenous Internet Chamber of Commerce). Ayala has release six albums and is represented by Canyon Records of Phoenix, Arizona. His CD's will be available and he will be happy to sign them as well.
Artist of the Month - Howard Sice
Howard Sice, Hopi / Laguna is an accomplished jeweler who works in silver, gold and other unique metals such as titanium, niobioum and Japanese shibu ichi alloy to name a few. Sice is known for his highly detailed engraved work on silver often using traditional southwest and pueblo imagery. Howard's art has been recognized with numerous awards. He won First Place at the Heard Museum show in Phoenix and Best of Show at the Northern Arizona Museum Hopi show. Click on his photo to view his artwork.
Fundraiser Raffle
We are raising funds to purchase this wonderful O'odham basket. This basket stand 17 inches tall and received a First place ribbon in the Juvenile divsion in the Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial in Gallup, New Mexico 1971. The artist is Margaret Lewis. Once purchased, this fine basket will be donated to the Tohono O'odham Nation Cultural Center and Museum for all to enjoy, appreciate and learn from. Check back as we add new information.
